Adventure of the Seas - One of Royal Caribbean's Ships Expected to Sail to New England/Canada in 2021.

Earlier this month, Canada announced that all cruise ships with more than 200 passengers will be prohibited from calling at Canadian ports for an entire year. This includes port of calls as well as technical calls as well. This announcements has dramatic impact on the 2021 Alaska and New England / Canada season causing the potential cancellation of the entire season.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises has requested that guests booked on potentially impacted cruises to be patient as they work with Canadian Authorities to secure an exception or viable options. Ships expected to sail on the Alaskan route include the Ovation of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas, and Radiance of the Seas. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are looking for available options to keep ships sailing on the scheduled dates and maintain the itineraries closely. The Ovation, Serenade and Radiance of the Seas were planning to embark passengers in the Canadian port of Vancouver, British Columbia which makes this more difficult than missing a port of call.

It is unclear whether an exception is also being pursued for the cruises departing from New York, Boston, Montreal and Quebec to New England / Canada.

There is US legislation in place for foreign flagged ships to call or embark passengers at a foreign port as part of the cruise, so the Canadian calls are important to New England / Canada Cruises, as well as Alaska Cruises. The Canadian restriction, has virtually shutdown the cruise industry in these regions.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
