Disney Magic Upgrades - Public Spaces, Accommodations, Dining and More

A Tangled-themed family restaurant, a fresh space for teens and a redesigned café for adults means something new for every member of the family aboard the Disney Magic.

Exciting new spaces and new experiences designed for guests of all ages are on-board the Disney Magic. From family dining in an enchanted kingdom, to a transformed teen club, to a sophisticated café exclusively for adults, the ship’s newest highlights include:

Disney Magic An Enchanting Dining Experience for Families

At Rapunzel’s Royal Table, families delight in an all-new dining experience inspired by the beloved story of Disney’s “Tangled.” The first table service restaurant themed to “Tangled” that features characters and live entertainment transports Disney Magic guests to the kingdom of Corona for an evening of music and interactive fun featuring Rapunzel, Flynn Rider and the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs.

Guests step inside a regal ballroom in the royal castle, lit by glowing wish lanterns and adorned with colorful drawings that reflect Rapunzel’s artistic talents. Here, the King and Queen of Corona invite everyone to take part in a festive celebration of Rapunzel’s birthday and the anniversary of her return to the kingdom.

Throughout dinner, guests of all ages are treated to live entertainment, including spirited singing and dancing led by the maître d’, a merry band of musicians, the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs and of course, Princess Rapunzel herself.

The family fun is complete with themed menus, special activities and a lively parade to cap off the evening in Corona. The charm and enchantment of “Tangled” in Rapunzel’s Royal Table is the perfect pairing to “Tangled: The Musical” – the spellbinding original production that delights guests during each Disney Magic sailing.

Redesigned Retreat Just for Teens On Board the Disney Magic

Vibe, the space on the ship reserved for teens ages 14-17, is transformed into a trendy urban loft environment. At Vibe, teens can enjoy a new coffee and smoothie bar, play video and virtual reality games, and check out other cool activities like a DJ spin-off and movie making. Activities at Vibe are organized and hosted by trained Disney counselors who facilitate the fun and interaction among teen guests.

Refined Escape Exclusively for Adults On Board the Disney Magic

Adults can relax at Cove Café, an adult-exclusive retreat redesigned in a sophisticated tropical style. It’s the perfect place to sip a specialty coffee or tea throughout the day, or indulge in wine or a cocktail and light bites during the evening hours.

In this serene setting by the Quiet Cove Pool, adult beverage tastings are also available at select times for an additional fee. Just steps away, the adjacent Signals Bar is transformed with a similar look.

Elsewhere around the Disney Magic, other enhancement highlights include the addition of Club Disney Junior in Disney’s Oceaneer Club for children and a redesigned Rainforest Room with steam and hydrotherapy in Senses Spa for adults.

The new enhancements debuted on the Disney Magic starting March 9, 2018.

Pool Areas On The Disney Magic

Family fun in the sun has never been better aboard the Disney Magic with completely re-imagined recreation and relaxation areas on the ship’s pool decks.

From free-falling water slides to laughter-filled splash zones there are plenty of new outdoor places and spaces, whether guests want to wade or just relax in the shade.

The upper decks of the Disney Magic have been redesigned for plenty of splashtacular fun, with waterful adventures that include a three-story, near-vertical water slide for thrill-seekers and a Huey, Dewey and Louie-themed toddler splash zone for smaller ducklings.

Having areas for all age groups to play and for families to create new memories was the driving goal for Walt Disney Imagineering when it designed the new pool deck areas. Another goal was to add more covered outdoor areas so guests could escape the rays of the seafaring sun.

“From small children to teens to adults, everyone has a space to have fun in the sun and water,” says Joe Lanzisero, senior creative vice president for Walt Disney Imagineering. “We added more water play areas, dynamic slides, interactive elements for the kids and more shade.”

Get Wet (Quickly!) on the AquaDunk Waterpark on the Disney Magic

Water thrills (and spills!) are found on the AquaDunk, a 37-foot-tall body slide that begins with a surprise launch. Riders step inside a translucent tube and await the near-vertical launch that takes place when the floor beneath them—surprise—opens like a trap door. The drop sends guests on an exhilarating, swift and splashy ride, starting high atop the forward funnel on Deck 13 and ending on Deck 10.

Another thrilling feature of the slide that some might say that will send guests “over the edge” is the AquaDunk design—the tube extends 20 feet over the side of the ship.

Guests who choose to be a spectator rather than participate will be able to see the free-falling fun from many vantage points on the top decks. Guests taller than 48 inches can enjoy the AquaDunk.

A Whimsical Water Playground—and One Angry Bird

The new AquaLab on the Disney Magic provides water fun for everyone. Guests can soak in the sun and get soaked at this interactive water playground open to kids age 3 and older.

In the AquaLab, families can frolic among pop jets, geysers and bubblers in this fun and fanciful 1,800-square-foot space, while the Twist ‘n’ Spout water slides gets them delightfully drenched. Pop jets scattered around the deck spray randomly while “water boilers” provide a cooling splash with spray churning from their extra-leaky rivets.

One especially ducky water feature is an onboard homage to the “original angry bird” himself, Donald Duck. The Donald Boiler is a duck-shaped figure whose hotheaded temper triggers periodic bursts of high-pressure mist, accompanied by a temper-tantrum water gusher. Interactive buttons on The Donald Boiler help guests get into the frenetic fun.

Another (and more tame) water slide—the Twist ‘n’ Spout—takes riders through a series of spirals and turns, with three large loops turning them in opposite directions.

Tots up to age 3 are invited to play in the new Nephews’ Splash Zone, a splash-a-second space dedicated to interactive fun and starring Donald Duck’s mischievous nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. The area features all sorts of water play with pop jets, squirting figures of Donald Duck’s nephews and plenty of high seas hijinks they’ve created for “Unca Donald.”

More Poolside Fun for Everyone

Because many guests enjoy a classic swimming pool experience, the Disney Magic also offers Goofy’s Pool for families and Quiet Cove Pool—a pool exclusively for adults on Deck 9 for a refreshing dip, or a tranquil day lounging poolside in a deck chair.

Disney Magic Staterooms

Designed with families in mind, Disney Cruise Line staterooms aboard the Disney Magic are equipped with innovations that ensure the ultimate in comfort and relaxation for Guests of all ages. From an imaginative inside retreat to a spacious and abundantly appointed suite, our world-class accommodations let you and your loved ones travel the high seas in high style.

Disney Magic has the all types of staterooms to offer passengers including inside, outside, balcony and multi-room suites with balconies. All staterooms are well appointed, neat and clean with sufficient space for up to 2 weeks travel. In most staterooms the beds can be configured as a queen or 2 twins. Each stateroom has a small sitting area, dressers, desk and under bed storage as well.

The bathrooms are like those found on most other cruise ships - compact in size and have a sink storage, shower and toilet. There is usually shelves and/or a small cabinet for toiletries storage.

The differences between most staterooms is the square footage, location and the connection with the outside. Larger rooms are more expensive. Staterooms with aft or bow views demand a premium. Suites cost more than balconies, which cost more than outside staterooms, which cost more than inside staterooms. It is all up to your preference and budget

Disney Cruise Line's Disney Magic Notes

The Disney Magic was the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet which set sail in 1998 following a partnership with Premier Cruise Line which ended 5 years earlier.

The Disney Magic was built in two parts at Fincantieri shipyards in Marghera and Anconda, Italy. Final construction took place in Marghera and the Disney Magic first set sail from Venice on July 1, 1998.

The bow features Sorcerer Mickey leading the way and Goofy finishing up the paint job on the aft name plate.

The interior design is art deco with a modern, sleek flare with straight lines and slender forms.

In September and October 2013, the Disney Magic underwent a transformation in Cadiz, Spain that saw many spaces re-imagined. Additional refits happened in September / October 2015/2018.

Disney offers an upscale experience for the entire family. Prices of cruises vary greatly depending on demand and whether school is in session. Food is of excellent quality and ships are extremely clean and well maintained.
