  BAR HARBOR, MAINE

Located on the Atlantic Bar Harbor, Maine is the gateway to Acadia National Park. The park consists of 35,000 acres of forestland and impressive views of the cliffs, glacier formed lakes and rock-lined coves. As you explore the forest admire the hand-cut stone bridges. Go to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the 2nd highest peak on the Atlantic Coast. This vantage point provides and excellent photo opportunity (if the weather cooperates – fog can be an issue), since it overlooks Bar Harbor and its surrounding islands. The Rockerfeller Family donated most of Acadia National Park to the park system.

Visit Somesville – a quaint storybook village, which overlooks Somes Sound, were you can admire the only fjord located on the east coast of North America. Make sure to bring your camera!

What better way then to enjoy not only the natural beauty of Maine but also the flavorful regional food? What would be a trip to Maine without fresh Maine Lobster and Clam Chowder?

Since the sea plays a significant roles in the lively hood of Maine residents, there are a number of attraction which center around Lobster fishing and there are even ones that let you pull in the lobster traps yourself. There are excursions that take you whale watching and even if you decide to visit Frenchman’s Bay there is a touch tank with various sea life and if you are lucky enough, you may actually see seals either lounging on the rocks or playing off shore.

If you decide to stay local, there is a walking tour of Victorian Bar Harbor where you can examine the city, which was once the playground of the wealthy.

As always visits north, requires warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Be sure to pack layers because the temperature can fluctuate.
