5/21/2010 - Today Cunard's Queen Mary 2 departed from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal after a few years hiatus.

The Queen Mary 2, which normally sails from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal was diverted to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal after the Caribbean Princess damaged one of the two gangways located at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal while docking.

The Queen Mary 2 looked very comfortable and at home at luxury liner row, where numerous historical liners embarked on their voyages for over 10 decades.

In traditional Cunard Style, the Queen Mary 2 dropped her ropes just over an hour late, clearing the pier at about 6:10 PM. As the graceful ship backed out of the pier, one could only appreciate her architecture and her size as she seemed to grow while backing out and positioning herself to go down river.

Spectators looked in amazement and cars pulled to the shoulder to admire the graceful liner.

Both the Captain and Pilot were enjoying the spectacle by blowing her echoing horns at least twelve times at various points in the Hudson. As she gracefully slid down the River, she did not seem to be  in a rush and actually seem to slow down to allow the passengers, who lined the decks, to admire the view shared with few Cunard Queen Mary 2 Passengers.

What a treat it say to see her back on the Upper Hudson!
