Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Summit to Bermuda in 2010.

MIAMI, FL – November 17, 2008 – During inaugural events of the new Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Cruises announce that it will be returning to Bermuda Cruising in 2010.

Although details were scarce, Celebrity did announce the ship would be the Celebrity Summit which would have weekend departures from Cape Liberty Bayonne, NJ to the Royal Navy Dockyard.

The announcement came as a surprise, since Celebrity Cruises and the Bermuda Government have been at odds for docking rights at Front Street. Celebrity who stated they wanted to bring a larger ship directly into Hamilton and did not want to dock at the dockyard - seem to have conceded.

Celebrity Cruises indicated that infrastructure changes and the further development of the Dockyard were key in their decision to return to Bermuda.  In addition, numerous letters from consumers and travel agents requesting the return to Bermuda.

More likely the move was driven by a number of factors including:

• Bermuda attracting more cruise lines in 2010 including Holland America's Veendam, which is small enough to dock directly in the heart of Hamilton.

• The desire of other cruise lines to call at Bermuda and being concerned they would be locked out.

• Celebrity Cruises expansion program which is adding 5 new ships and the need to find new destinations.

• The increase in the price of fuel and air traffic combined with the need to provide more options of close to home cruising.

Whatever the reason, the Celebrity's return will offer an upscale cruise option to Bermuda from the Port of New York (Cape Liberty). Welcome Back Celebrity Cruises!
