Some Details Released on Silversea Exploration Ship.

February 8, 2008. Silversea Cruises has released a some details about its newest, exploration cruise vessel currently undergoing refurbishment in Trieste, Italy.

The luxury cruise operator is preparing to enter the exploration cruise market, by combining travel to remote corners of the world with a luxury cruise experience. The ship, which is a former Society Expeditions ship, will have its guest capacity reduced from 300 to 132 pampered passengers. The ship will have a crew of 100,

Renovations to the ship include the removal of the ship's swimming pool and replacing it with two Jacuzzi pools. Near the hot tubs, is a bar, a grilling area and viewing stations. The area will also have telescopes for viewing the stars at night.

The ship will be reconfigured to create 66 ocean view suites ranging from 215 to 600 Sq feet. Most will have balconies and the ship will be wireless internet access enabled.

For close-up exploring, the vessel has 8 zodiac boats which are economically friendly and offers access to the most remote shoreline.
