Today, NCL America's Pride of Hawaii sailed from Honolulu on a 5 day cruise to Los Angeles. This positioning voyage is part of a plan to reduce NCL passenger capacity in the Hawaiian Islands. It has not been a well kept secret that NCL has had difficulties filling the ships in the Hawaiian market. Pressures from competition, has forced NCL to reduce the number of ships  operating between the islands.

After arriving at Los Angeles, the Pride of Hawaii will undergo a 6-day wet docking where she will be transformed into the Norwegian Jade. Her hull art will be replaced with the new color scheme and decoration suitable for the Norwegian Jade. In addition, the registry of the ship will be transferred from the US to the Bahamas. This change will allow the ship to operate under a more cost efficient crew.

On February 16th, the ship will depart LA on a repositioning cruise to Barcelona, Spain. After reaching, Barcelona, the Norwegian Jade will enter a 14-day wet-dock in Cadiz, Spain, where more internal modifications will be made including the installation of a Casino.

After spending a summer in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, the Norwegian Jade will reposition to New York for cruises to New England Canada in the fall.
