Norwegian Gem Opens Remodeled Pier 88

With the arrival of the Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Gem in New York on December 18th - The New York Economic development corporation unveiled the remodeled Pier 88. The modifications to the Pier includes the building of a 100 foot apron on both sides of the pier. Improved loading facilities for the ships. Improved soft furnishings including more check-in desks, more security stations, brighter atmosphere including new rugs and a new gangways with an extended reach.

Similar modifications are expected to be completed to both Pier 90 and 92 over the next 4 years.

Other improvements will include improving the traffic flow in and out of the facility.
