October 14, 2014 - Holland America Line's Veendam is scheduled to resume service Oct. 18 when she departs Boston on a Panama Canal transit cruise to San Diego California.
The Veendam has spent the past 3 weeks under ongoing repairs to one of the ship's propellers at a Philadelphia drydock. The propeller issues left the ship unable to operate at full speed in Quebec City, Quebec on September 27th. After making an initial evaluation of the damage, Holland America proceeded to locate an east coast shipyard capable of handling the 57,000 ton cruise ship - with an available drydock.
In total, Three cruises were canceleed cutting short the Veendam's New England Canada season.
